Two Separate Violent Auto Theft Robberies At Yorkdale Mall Lead to the Arrest of One Youth, 3 Suspects Still Wanted
On two separate occasions at Yorkdale Mall, violent attempted carjackings occurred. The first on 2024February09, 4 suspects followed a family with children, assaulted one person. The other parent was able to run back to the mall with the children. The suspects then fled.
At a later date, 2024February17, three suspects approached another family with children and demanded the car keys. The victim was pushed to the ground. In both incidences, a firearm was seen.
Following an investigation by the Provincial Car Jacking Task Force (PCJTF), a 17 year old was identified but cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
